Happy Easter

Happy Easter Pals!!!

 Finally after 40 days of lent I get to treats again, not that I really fasted from them but anyway. Today, my friends, I get to eat our home made Figolli! Figolli pals, are a Maltese Sweet cooked during lent and eaten on Easter Sunday. They are made out of a special sweet pastry and sandwiched between them is an almond based filling. They are then cooked in the oven, and a chocolate or icing filling is placed on the top the next day to make them look nice. I was allowed to help out in the kitchen and the human even let me (and me only, not the Bug!) to make my own one.

They are extremely easy to do too. First you kneed and roll out the dough. I left that to the humans, it's too messy for me. Then you choose your favorite shape, I chose a heart, and you cut out two identically pieces of dough. Then, you get the human to put the almond filling on one and ask her to put the other piece on top of everything. Then.... you stick your paw in the middle, so everyone knows it's yours.

I am guessing you need the ingredients right? Here you go:

For the Pastry, you will need:

--> 400g margarine
--> 800g flour
--> 200g sugar
--> 3 egg yolks
--> half a tsp grated lemon rind
--> water to bind

For the Filling, you will need:

--> 400g sugar
--> 400g ground almonds
--> 1 tsp orange-flower water
--> 3 egg whites

You really shouldn't eat too much. The human says it puts a lot of inches in unwanted places. Not sure what she means by that. Any way pals, enclosing some pictures taken on the day!

Anyway pals, I am off to eat mine...

Happy EASTER

Love Curtis

My name...

Hello Pals,

Hope all is well. Nothing very exciting is happening road here at the moment. The human is busy studying (which includes checking her emails 1,000,000 times a day, changing her facebook status a similar number of times and brushing the bug and my self 10 times a day!). The whether is getting warmer and we are spending more time inside.

Anyway, whilst the human was asleep this afternoon, and Paige was outside sunbathing, I decided to google my name and see what came up. I have to say I am impressed. I had no idea so many famous people where named after me. Don't believe me? Let's have a look:

Jamie Lee Curtis - An American Actress born in 1958. Apparently she is also copying me, in that she has her on blog in THE HUFFINGTON POST. She uses my name as her last name, I think it should be her first but if it were her first, everyone would think she was a boy, and seeing she likes me so much and wanted my name at all costs, she added it to the end of her name.

Daniel Curtis Lee - Another American actor and rapper born in 1991. Daniel must have thought his name was too boring, and he needed to a middle name. He must have come across my blog online and decided to use my name, seeing I am the smartest dog in the world.

Tony Curtis  - An American Actor born in 1925 and who sadly died two years ago in 2010. Described by many as a Hollywood legend, of course he is... he is using my name!

Simon Curtis - An american singer and song writer born in 1986. Mostly known for playing Royce Du Lac in the film Spectacular. The film it's self is named describing me... Spectacular!

Curtis Lee Mayfield - Lived between 1942 and 1999 and is seen by many as the driving behind black music in the 60s and 70s.

American rapper 50 Cent named his latest album Curtis. Boy I didn't know he was following my blog too. I am one of his greatest fans!

There are loads and loads more too! There is also a school of music named after me in Philadelphia called precisely CURTIS - Institute of Music,  and of a company selling consumer electronics called Curtis International. Not sure if I own a part of it or not though.

Man I have become so famous, and yet I am still so down to earth, smiling at everyone I meet in the streets and playing with little kids. Thinking about it, I should have put a (c) over my name, I would be rich and not just famous with so many people wanting to use my name!

Anyway pals, I have to go now. The humans are up.

Speak soon

Curtis

PS My name means 'courteous, polite'. I think it explains everything about me. Oh and by the way, Paige means 'servant'. Need I say more?
